          * fun fact: the fictional city of Alderly I used for this story got its name from the very first fantasy idea I wrote, which I’ve long since realized was terrible (but it did have cool lore, and apparently cool city names).

          My novella for ONC, Wynne Can’t Swim, will be complete next Wednesday. After which I will be editing a lot. And then hopefully reading more (:

          * fun fact: In order to study up on serial structure for this story (read: consume content I’d been meaning to watch and read anyway, but now with an excuse) I found myself seeking out a lot of different shows. The biggest helpers for this one were episodic: Suits, and House MD. Both were a big help with drama and building large casts of characters. As for books: The Art of Fielding (Chad Harbach), and Into the Blue (Pene Henson), were the original vibes I wanted for this story. Writing it made me love researching and challenging myself even more!

          * fun fact: I chose track as the sport in this story because of the first time I watched it (during the Olympics in 2016). The 200m silver was won by Andre De Grasse (who gets mentioned in Crushed Hearts later on :D) Canada’s first medal in that event since 1928. Watching it stuck with me for a long time, so when I was deciding the sport, track felt natural. It was also my university’s best sport, lol, and it seemed like a fun (and maybe not as usual) one to write about (:

          * fun fact: having bad luck is a running joke for me, so it felt fitting to give it to Emery. I don’t actually have a list, but every food I ever say is my favourite has stopped getting made, and I have been the victim of being hit with a tennis ball (and a soccer ball… twice).
          
          * extra housekeeping update: Wynne Can’t Swim, my Open Novella Contest project, won during round one amongst many talented authors! I am super proud of this, and with any luck, I can keep updating regularly to finish the story.

          * fun fact: Most of the main characters in this story have gender neutral names, and I liked that concept to both use more cool names (anyone who knows me knows that I love having fun with names), and also in the hope that it would make the story itself feel more open and less restrictive to gender roles (which is something Emery does have confusing thoughts on, sometimes)!
          
          I hope everyone is having an excellent week! ♡ Thank you to everyone for the support during this absolute whirlwind of a week. I appreciate you all more than I can ever say!
