Hey y'all, status update: I'm not dead, I just got a girlfriend. Writing was a coping mechanism and she makes me happier than I have been in a while, hence the lack of work on my coping mechanism.
I love my girlfriend, and unfortunately yes, this does mean that all my work is on hiatus until I either get the drive to write again or lose it all, the latter of which won't happen anytime soon.

Greetings, Mr. Fuckit. I come seeking guidance and wisdom. I struggle applying emotions into my writing and applying that sense of what these characters are feeling. Stuff like "To her, it was like a thousand suns had just collapsed with every last light in her world, gone" stuff like that. I can write what's physically happening in the story but naturally applying these bits of narration to emphasise the character's feelings, that I struggle. So I ask the greatest writer I know, simply how?

@karvenman The biggest thing is to ensure that the statement fits the situation. As an example, if P were to get slapped in the face and I write, "It was as if the very hells had been casted unto his cheek." It won't make sense unless the person slapping him has a greater emotional significance. Basically, think about what your character is going through, how it would affect them, and write a accordingly. For another example, when I write for Ironwood's perspective, I make sure to be very dramatic and overbearing because his life is crumbling around him. With Penny, I try to be a more curious narrator, you get the gist. Overall, tone and significance are something you need to have a firm grasp on, and then the dramatic lines will flow nicely.
