Anxiety high, stress levels astronomical, I attempt to glide past him unnoticed. His friends stare at me, murmuring to themselves as I speed walk past them.
And then, as if he can just feel the change in air, a trail of footsteps follow behind me. “Hey!”
I pretend not to hear him, my hand tugging on my tommen jumper. If it’s one thing, I shouldn’t be so selfish to think being his friend was a good idea.

A hand grabs at my forearm, tugging me into a hard chest. I forge a smile. “Hi Connor.”
“Don’t ‘Hi Connor’ me, not after you ignore me for days.” He narrows his eyes at me, loosening his hold. “Are you okay?”
I nod. “Grand.”
