‘ all tattoos and glares, he stares down at me as though i had just asked him where my nose was. “Someone stole your exhaust, made a pretty penny out of you.”

“Well, i need a new one now, can you do that?” I cross my arms. “Or are you going to keep mansplaining cars to me, Mr mechanic?”

He snorts. “You seem to be enjoying my chatter, so if you insist.” ’

“I’ve a lot on my hands.” He says to me, shaking his head. “I’m not the guy you want, Madeleine.”

“Why?” I cross my arms over my chest. “Enlighten me, Ryan.”

Two green eyes meet mine, sad and full of years of suffering. “I have kids at home, three of them. My siblings, I’m their legal guardian. They are, and will always be my full priority.”

Well, how those turns have tabled

I turn to my left, straight into my box of a room only to halt in my steps at the sight in front of me. My sister fast asleep on Matt’s chest, the man whose life motto is “Yolo, stay wild!” is the calmest person when it comes to my family.

“Hi.” I clear my throat, his head snapping to meet my eyes.

“Hey pretty girl.” He winks. “I would hug you but i’ve got another one of my girls on my chest right now and i’d hate to wake her.”

          Damn this man.

“Why are you sitting alone?” I lifted my head, finding a blonde boy with a big grin staring down at me.

          “I don’t know anyone.”

“I’m Matt.” He simply replied, sliding down next to me and grabbing one of my pencils.

          “Huh?”

“Now you know someone, so we can play.” He smiled . “Plus, you’re too pretty to play by yourself.”

A small, but noticeable smile grew on my face. “I’m Kimberly, are you turning four too?”

          “Yuh-huh.”

And it was from that point onwards that I knew Matthew Gibson was going to be a trouble in my life.
